University of the Philippines School of Statistics Visual Identity
The rebranding for the University of the Philippines School of Statistics Alumni Association (UPSSAA) is one of the few pro bono projects I have accepted through Bates CHI & Partners. UPSSAA and its school is the premiere institution for the statistical sciences in the country. The association dedicates new studies to improve current systems for effective planning and decision making. It administrates public information for both the government and private sector
through honesty and integrity with relentless passion to seek new knowledge. The UPSSAA logotype is a fusion of abstract doors and windows. Doors and windows symbolize opportunity, for a better life. They are suspended in a dynamic context that suggests openness and motion. These doors and windows come in the colors of UP and other colors that represent the character of a Filipino. The UPSSAA logo is built to be fluid and expressive.
These doors and windows come in different sizes to represent a sense of diversity (or in statistical terms, differences) in life. The dynamic placement of these abstract symbols in boundless space says a lot about the different ways one can learn about life in general. It gives us the opportunity to assess differences in various circumstances and realize the different ways one can approach life.
